Effective January 1, anyone who installs a manufactured home (except a homeowner) must have a manufactured home installer’s license issued by DSPS. Effective April 1, 2007 inspection of the installation of HUD Code manufactured homes will be required in Wisconsin. On that date, all manufactured homes must be installed to specific installation standards. If the home is produced on or after April 1 then it must be installed in accordance with Part 3285 of the federal law as amended by the Department. If the home was built in the factory prior to April 1, 2007 then the applicable the standards are found under SPS 321.40 as shown in the latest version of the UDC.
The Wisconsin Housing Alliance helding two one-day classes to cover what you need to know about the applicable UDC provisions and to give you tools to better do this important job. The slide show from that program is available. Click here
